Its all about business....

So, 10th grade was over, and now I had this big challenge in front of me, not JEE preps but preps to get in a coaching institute. I was already enrolled in an institute for board exams prepration with a nice PR or repute for preparing toppers in JEE, and I wanted to continue in it. But the fee was huge, so I decided to appear in the admission test which also guaranteed nice scholarship as per rank.

Exam day, I was probably more nervous than the actual JEE advanced exam. Not because I wasn't prepared but because my father was already under the burden of a loan and I had seen a few things about the institute and did not want him to pay the total fee. There was no pressure from his side to get a scholarship he was okay with the amount, that place simply wasn't worth that price. For me getting a good rank was important.

The exam started, and I saw the true seriousness, cheating left and right no one really cared how it goes as if it were a formality. The results day I saw I had some 350 all India rank. As per the coaching rules, I was to get 70% scholarship, but that never happened they said max I deserve is a scholarship of 35% a friend of mine had a slightly better rank and was given a scholarship of 90% why because he was an NTSE scholar and his chances of getting into IIT were better than mine. As per them he was more worthy of that scholarship. I had a few better options from the Kota factory, but I was not in perfect health, so the only choice was to accept the unfair offer in front of me and start, but I made a promise to myself that I will claim the best rank and prove my worth to them.

And so it all started and thus started the breeding system. Before the first exam, everything was awesome teachers were great, I was learning a lot, solving problems and assignments were fun. But then happened the PHASE TEST and everything changed. Those who got better results, the top breed, were taken away to be fed and trained by better breeders in the top batch and rest were just another part of the herd, simply average they were directly or indirectly told to focus on a limited part of the entire syllabus, as in the eyes of the institute we were not the kind to get a good rank no matter how much effort they put in us, in fact, top breeders were ordered to feed 'best ones' properly, even if the rest simply starved. Classes were cancelled for other batches and for the top batch faculties were supposed to do overtime to ensure that the 'best ones' are getting everything on time, their doubts were cleared separately so that they won't have to waste time waiting for a faculty to get free, they were encouraged for olympiads. In contrast, others were told that olympiads were meant only for the best ones, not for the average ones.

Well, this discrimination continued till the very last day, getting worse as the exams neared.

I observed that those who pay more fees and are supposed to get the maximum attention end up being a part of the crowd. Those who are actually smart and don't need any help only get all the services promised in these breeding farms' advertisements. Rest are just trapped, believing that either they are not good or they simply don't deserve it.

From the perspective of those breeders, it is all justified as its nothing personal its just business. It's all about business. Education was never in the picture.
